چکیده

2014 The present paper considers the VLF radiation characteristics from a thin dipole antenna in a warm magnetoplasma. Formal solutions are derived for the portions of the dipole radiation resistance due to the thermal modes (Rt) and the whistler mode (Rw). In this derivation the ions are assumed to be cold, and the effects of finite electron temperatures are included by means of a scalar pressure term. Two particular orientations of the dipole are considered (parallel and perpendicular to the static magnetic field line). A detailed analysis is made for frequencies in the range between the electron gyrofrequency (fHe) and the lower-hybrid-resonance frequency (fLHR). Several numerical plots of Rt~, and Rw~, are presented for typical VLF magnetospheric plasma parameters. They show that for frequencies (f) not close to fLHR, Rt~, is generally 2 x 10-1 Rw~, whereas as f ~ fLHR, Rt, ~ 10-1 Rw and Rt~ ~ Rw~. Using these numerical values of Rt~, and Rw~,, the dipole whistler mode radiation efficiences ~w have been estimated for a number of specific cases. In most cases ~w ~ 70 %, but falls as low as ~ 38 % at f ~ fLHR. REVUE DE PHYSIQUE APPLIQUÉE TOME 7, MARS 1972, PAGE

ELF/VLF radiation resistance of an arbitrary oriented finite dipole in a cold, uniform multicomponent magnetoplasma

2014 By using a full electromagnetic-wave theory, an analysis is made of the ELF/VLF radiation resistance of a finite electric dipole, oriented at arbitrary angle in a cold, uniform magnetoplasma. The general integral expression for the radiation resistance R is derived, and from that, various approximate closed forms of R are obtained for the entire VLF/ELF range. Numerical plots of R are give...

On the role of the current loss in radio pulsar evolution

The aim of this article is to draw attention to the importance of the electric current loss in the energy output of radio pulsars. We remind that even the losses attributed to the magneto-dipole radiation of a pulsar in vacuum can be written as a result of an Ampere force action of the electric currens flowing over the neutron star surface [1], [2]. It is this force that is responsible for the ...

Design of a Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna for FM Radio Broadcasting Base Station Antenna Implementation

This work presents the design of a magneto-electric dipole (MED) antenna for the base station antenna of FM radio broadcasting implementation. The advantages of MED antenna are high gain, stable and symmetrical radiation patterns in both electric and magnetic planes, and low back lobe radiation pattern. The antenna was designed and studied to achieve the optimal dimensions of configuration para...

Electric Dipole Radiation from Spinning Dust Grains

We discuss the rotational excitation of small interstellar grains and the resulting electric dipole radiation from spinning dust. Attention is given to excitation and damping of grain rotation by: collisions with neutrals; collisions with ions; “plasma drag”; emission of infrared radiation; emission of electric dipole radiation; photoelectric emission; and formation of H2 on the grain surface. ...
